New Flat Screen TV- Am I Missing a Trick?

Last year after a lot of persuasion I managed to persuade my other half that it was time to retire our tried and trusted TV set and to invest in a flat screen TV.  We do not have a large room and I was fed up with the bulk of the old model.  It seemed to be far too prominent in the room.  I was also looking forward to a clearer picture, and of course a smart new piece of furniture.

We duly acquired a 28 inch Sony LCD TV after shopping around and taking advice.  When we got it home we sat it on the TV stand that we had used previously.  The Sky box and DVD player tucked in compactly underneath as before.  There it has sat ever since in the same corner as the previous set.

I am now beginning to realise that this may not be the best option, in fact I now know that it is not.  I have heard about TV wall mount brackets and am certain that this is what we need.  I have done my research and just need to convince my partner that this is the way forward.

My main argument is that to use a flat wall bracket will mean that we can completely dispense with the unit, thus giving us more floor space and I think a better looking room.  It will also mean that there will no longer be a mess of wires about the place.

I am however after a wall bracket that can tilt and swivel to provide as much flexibility as possible.  As I have stated the room is compact and we often have trouble with the strong sunlight.  With a bracket that can tilt and swivel we will be able to counteract this.  We can also choose to move the seats around and still be able to see the screen.  This will make such a difference to us.

I did also consider a cantilever bracket.  This would have allowed me to keep the TV set in the corner, but I have had enough of that for the present.  I want to utilise some free wall space in the centre of the room.  Who knows I may change my mine and that would be an option.

So, with my best persuasive smile I will tackle the issue and hopefully have my wall mounted TV before Christmas.
